There are a lot of red things that irritate the hell out of me: bug bites, rashes, Carrot Top, and now, Elmo. Emma and Andrew love Elmo. They love everything about him. His irritating voice. His irritating demeanor. His irritating laugh. The only semi-positive thing I can say about Elmo is that the carpet matches the drapes.
Lisa and I broke down this weekend when we were at Target and saw the Elmo Live doll on sale for $29. Elmo Live is a robotic version of Elmo that sings, dances, tells stories, waves his hands, sits down, stands up, and has everything the real Elmo has except a hand up its ass.
Needless to say, the kids love the doll. We showed Emma and Andrew how to turn it on and they played with Elmo for thirty minutes straight. Except for the lack of a volume control, this doll is a great babysitter. But I'm used to that disappointment because Crazy Grandma Ichikawa also lacks a volume control.
