Day 643 - Equality For All

With twins, it can sometimes be a tricky task to make sure you are paying enough attention to each child. As the kids near two, there is greater evidence of jealousy and the need to be seen and heard. While some may find giving enough attention to twins an overwhelming job, I have found one trick to make this task easier: give more attention to the dusty kid.

Here's an example of this primal jealousy. Andrew was rolling around on our sofa and fell off hitting his head on the floor. He started to cry, so Lisa picked Andrew up and cradled him in her arms. As Lisa was trying to calm Andrew down, Emma noticed what was going on. Emma walked in front of Lisa and guess what she did? She purposely threw her arms up in the air, fell to the floor, and started to fake cry.

Although I'm pretty impressed by Emma's ability to become an attention whore, it is a great example of how Emma and Andrew have been developing emotionally and cognitively. They are starting to put together more complicated ideas and feelings which in turn has been making our lives more complicated. A little more thought has to be used in order to figure out the best way to deal with the kids. And a little more thought is always a dangerous request for simpleton me.
